     F&B RITUAL Solstice

a conscious midsummer rite of silence, song, sensation and self-discovery

For 10 years, Fox&Badge has gathered after dark. This midsummer, we step into the light.

F&B RITUAL is something new. No rave. No wine. No words.

For 6 hours we will move through a rich sun-like arc of sensations and experiences, from high noon to dusk, that aim to enliven our hearts, awaken our senses, and strengthen community, union and release.

This is our 1st ritual. A secular sacrament, suffused with the sensual & spiritual.

We gather near the Summer Solstice, at the zenith and turning of the year, that bright moment of plenitude when the veil between who we are and who we might be feels thin enough to step through on our journey towards transformation.

It is our solar Summer overture to Autumn’s Bacchanal; we honour the sun gods Helios & Apollo, embracing the shadows as we move towards the wild release of our Feast of Dionysus in September.

Dionysus was the god of theatre - and of transformation. His masked, ecstatic processions birthed Greek drama, & inform this event. He is the god of the space between who you are and who you might become.

We will explore 3 main modalities: movement, voice & touch.

We will weave together moments of ceremony and performance; communion, blessing, gratitude, purification, procession, unified sound and movement.

We approach this with energy and attentiveness, artistry & gentle edginess (this is a sensual, not sexual event). We move from self to collective - arriving, breathing, moving, exploring, deepening, and then departing in unison.

All are welcome.

THE ARC OF THE DAY

This will be a continuous, primarily non-verbal ritual from 3pm to 9pm, arranged in 3 movements. 2 intermediary pauses will offer space to rest, hydrate, and gather yourself before we continue. Beyond these, we ask you to hold and enjoy the silence.

Together we will explore:

  • a ritualistic container

  • performance and ceremony

  • solstice + Dionysian energies

  • individual, paired and group connections

  • music, dance & movement

  • collective chanting & toning

  • conscious touch

  • group massage

  • sensory enhancement & deprivation

  • swaddling & mummification - part or whole :)

This event foregrounds collective respect & consent, & invites gentle open-hearted surrender, release, exploration and trust. It will be led by Fox&Badge directors Alex Haw & Lauren Katalinich + a number of exquisite guest musicians, facilitators & spaceholders.

DRESS CODE

Please wear all white.

Dress to move; no office shirts or suits or skinnies or tight restrictions; think loose, flowing, joyous and generous; blouses, shawls, oversize tees, cloaks, gowns and robes.

Think sensual meets sacred & ceremonial; casual elegance, some bare flesh, bare feet; looking and feeling your best are all deeply welcomed. Think summer, heat, desert, maybe ancient Greece; perhaps a hint of the Burn.

Think simple & minimal; avoid colour, any black, visual noise, distraction. Also minimise stress :)

This is a special occasion & we congregate in reverence, so please try & avoid the purely everyday - especially tracksuits.

Rituals entail gifting. Thoughtfully attuning through what you wear is the only physical gift we ask of you.

For inspiration and reference, please have a look at our Ritual Pinterest board

Feel free to email any questions on clothing - or the wider event - to foxandbadge@gmail.com

Extra blessings if you wear a leaf or flower or plant in some form - whether in your hair, around your crown or wrist or finger or ear, or as you choose.
